Coal India August Supplies Jump 5.5% — Power Sector Gets Strong Boost

New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) reported a solid 5.5% rise in coal supplies during August FY 2026-27, reflecting steady demand from both power and non-power sectors.

The company supplied 60.60 million tonnes of coal in August, compared to 57.40 MT in the same month last year.

Strong Start to FY 2026-27

In the first five months of the current financial year (April–August), Coal India supplied 322.90 MT, registering a healthy 6.7% growth over the previous year’s 302.60 MT.

The company also liquidated around 55 MT of pithead stocks during this period. With approximately 76 MT still available at its pitheads, CIL remains well-positioned to meet rising power demand as the monsoon season eases.

Coal India said it is now preparing to ramp up both production and supplies in the coming drier months.
