EIL Backs New Energy Startup Push: MC²+ Ignite Launched at IIT Madras
New Delhi: Engineers India Limited has joined a major new initiative aimed at giving deep-tech startups a stronger foothold in India’s energy sector.
The programme, called MC²+ Ignite, was formally launched at IIT Madras. It is designed to support startups working on advanced technologies for oil, gas and the broader energy transition.
Shri Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Chairman of the MC2 Foundation, was present at the launch. Shri Atul Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of EIL, also attended the event along with other leaders from the energy and innovation ecosystem.
What MC²+ Ignite Offers
MC²+ (Multiply, Collaborate, Create) brings together India’s Oil & Gas PSUs, academic institutions and deep-tech startups on a common platform.
Under the Ignite accelerator track:
-
Around 30 startups will be selected
-
Each selected startup can receive up to ₹2 crore in milestone-linked convertible funding
-
Startups will get access to infrastructure, technical expertise, mentorship, pilot opportunities and direct industry connections
The goal is simple: identify promising energy innovators early and help them move from lab-stage ideas to real-world application with the support of India’s energy PSUs.
For EIL, the initiative fits its focus on technology development, indigenisation and creating pathways for Indian deep-tech solutions to scale both domestically and globally.
