NTPC Bongaigaon Conducts Joint Mock Drill on Disaster Management
Bongaigaon, 8 September 2026 — A Joint Mock Drill on Disaster Management was conducted at NTPC Bongaigaon in association with CISF, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Local Police and NTPC Hospital.
The exercise assessed the preparedness and coordination of the participating agencies in responding to disaster situations. It was conducted under the guidance of Shri Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, and the supervision of Shri L. N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF, NTPC Bongaigaon.
Scenarios Covered
1. Building Collapse after Earthquake
The first scenario simulated the collapse of the New Service Building following an earthquake, with seven casualties presumed to be trapped inside. The participating agencies jointly carried out search, rescue and evacuation operations. All trapped casualties were located, rescued and handed over to the NTPC medical team for first aid and further treatment.
2. Drowning Emergencies
The second exercise involved two drowning-related emergencies — one casualty trapped in a flood-like situation and another in a pond-drowning scenario. The rescue teams responded promptly and demonstrated appropriate search, water-rescue and casualty-evacuation techniques.
