RailTel Hit by Major Setback as Bihar Cancels Three Projects Worth Over Rs 609 Crore
New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has suffered a major setback after the Bihar Education Project Council cancelled three large education projects awarded to the company, with a combined value of more than 609 crore. The company informed stock exchanges about the development on Tuesday.
All three projects were awarded to RailTel in 2025 and were linked to improving education infrastructure across government schools in Bihar. However, the customer has now cancelled the work orders citing unavoidable reasons.
The first project involved the supply of teaching learning material for students from Class I to V in government primary schools and was valued at 89.91 crore.

The second project was related to the procurement, supply and installation of smart classrooms in government middle schools, with an estimated value of 262.14 crore.

The third project focused on setting up smart classroom infrastructure in government secondary and senior secondary schools and was valued at 257.50 crore.

The cancellation of all three projects removes more than 609 crore from RailTel’s order pipeline and may impact near term revenue visibility. Market experts believe the development could weigh on investor sentiment in the short run, although RailTel continues to strengthen its presence in telecom infrastructure, IT and ICT services, data centres, cloud solutions, cybersecurity and smart city projects.
The company has not disclosed any further financial implications of the cancellations.
