Ujjivan SFB Appoints Carol Furtado as Interim CEO with RBI Approval
Mumbai, September 1, 2026: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for Ms. Carol Kripanayana Furtado to serve as the bank's Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The approval is effective from September 1, 2026, for three months or until a regular Managing Director & CEO is appointed, whichever is earlier.
Carol Furtado takes interim leadership role
Carol Furtado is a Whole-Time Executive Director of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank and has been serving in an acting MD & CEO capacity. She brings around 29 years of banking experience across retail banking and NBFC businesses.
Her areas of experience include business leadership, banking operations, credit, people functions and service quality.
Furtado has been part of Ujjivan's leadership journey and contributed to building the organisation. Before joining Ujjivan, she worked with ANZ Group, Bank Muscat and Centurion Bank.
She is a postgraduate from Mount Carmel Institute of Management, Bengaluru, and has participated in leadership programmes at IIM Ahmedabad and Harvard Business School.
RBI approval provides leadership continuity
The RBI's three-month approval allows Ujjivan SFB to maintain leadership continuity while the bank proceeds with the appointment of a regular MD & CEO.
The bank disclosed the development to the stock exchanges on September 1 under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations.
