OIL Green Energy Signs MoUs with Haryana for Four Integrated Waste-to-Clean-Energy Projects

New Delhi: OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna CPSE Oil India Limited (OIL), has signed Memoranda of Understanding with four municipalities of Haryana — Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar and Ambala — for the development of Integrated CBG and Waste-to-Energy projects.

The MoUs were signed on 30 August 2026 in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, along with senior Ministers, Members of Parliament and officials from the Government of Haryana and OIL/OGEL.

Project capacity and locations

The four projects will cover the following clusters:

• Hisar – 500 TPD

• Ambala – 900 TPD

• Faridabad – 1,600 TPD

• Gurugram – 2,000 TPD

Together, the facilities will scientifically process 5,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day. They are expected to produce 70–75 TPD of Compressed Biogas (CBG) and generate 50 MW of green power.

Integrated waste processing approach

The projects follow a resource-recovery model:

• Municipal solid waste will undergo scientific pre-processing and segregation.

• Recyclable materials will be recovered.

• Wet and biodegradable fractions will be used for CBG production.

• Only the non-recyclable dry fraction will be utilised for electricity generation through Waste-to-Energy facilities.

This approach aims to maximise resource recovery, optimise energy extraction from non-recyclable waste, reduce dependence on landfilling, and convert different waste streams into clean energy in the form of CBG and green electricity.

Alignment with national goals

The initiative supports Haryana’s push for scientific and sustainable municipal waste management. It also contributes to the national objectives of Waste-to-Wealth, circular economy and clean energy transition.

The projects are aligned with the Government of India’s GOBARdhan – National Circular Bioenergy Scheme 2026, which promotes scientific waste management and the conversion of organic waste into CBG and other forms of clean energy.

For Oil India Limited, the collaboration marks an important step in expanding its low-carbon energy portfolio through OGEL and advancing integrated waste-to-clean-energy solutions at scale.
