SCCL signs pact with BHEL to set up 800 MW thermal power plant in Mancherial
The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has signed an agreement with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for executing the work of its new 800 megawatt ultra supercritical thermal power plant planned on the premises of the existing 2×600 MW project at Pegadapalli near Jaipur in the Mancherial district in 40 months.
The BHEL would undertake civil works in addition to providing the power plant's boilers, turbines, and generators (BGT). The SCCL's chairman and managing director, N. Balaram, recommended that the executing agency consider the challenges encountered in the establishment of 1,200 power projects and make plans to prevent all of these obstacles when the company begins operations next month.

Though the contract period for completion of the plant was 48 months, the agency was asked to complete it in 40 months even if some minor works go beyond the 40 months.
SCCL directors D. Satyanarayana Rao, L.V. Suyanarayana and K. Venkateshwarlu; executive director Sd. M. Subhani; general manager and head of BHEL, Parthasarathi Das and GM Jogesh Gulati were among those present during the signing of the agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Balaram requested the BHEL authorities to complete the work before the deadline by constant supervision since all basic infrastructure was already available on the 1,200 MW project premises.

The 1,200 MW project completed and commissioned in 2016 was already contributing Rs 450 crore profit to the company and had supplied about 70 million units of energy to the needs of Telangana.
As part of its functioning, the existing project had achieved the highest plant load factor (PLF) among the public sector thermal power projects in the country several times.
