Durgapur Steel Plant organised Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament
NEW DELHI- Inter Departmental Cricket Tournament 2022 was organized by Durgapur Steel Plant in day-night format under the floodlights from 7th May to 16th May, 2022 at ASP stadium. The tournament began on 07.05.2022 with the inauguration of the event along with playing of the inaugural match between Team Blast Furnace & Team Plant Civil Engg.
The event was inaugurated on 7th May by Shri BP Singh, Director I/c, (Burnpur & Durgapur Steel Plant) amidst presence of senior officials, employees, union members, representatives of officers association and other employees of DSP & ASP. Director I/c, Shri Singh in his inaugural speech spoke highly of the tournament as an important milestone helping team building spirit amongst all.
Various sports lovers visited the stadium every day to witness the spectacular day-night cricket tournament. Among the important visitors present during the tournament, Shri AV Kamlakar, former CEO (ISP) with addl. charge of CEO (DSP & ASP) visited ASP stadium on 09.05.2022 along with Director I/c and other senior officials & employees. A total of 24 teams comprising 22 teams from DSP & 2 teams from ASP participated in the tournament.
The teams from PCE, BF, CEM/Foundry, MSM, Instrumentation, Plant Garage, Telecom, Traffic, CEE, RCL, Merchant Mill, Sinter Plant, SMS, COCC, RMHP, WAP & PMD, Projects, Personnel, MM, CHRD, Finance and M&HS were from DSP whereas ASP Tiger & ASP Titans were the teams from ASP. The team members were selected from among enthusiastic executives and non-executives fraternity thereby generating a lot of interest amongst the participant employees.
A total of 25 matches were played during the tournament in a knock-out T-12(12 overs each) format. Every day 3 matches were played on an average including matches postponed due to rain were later re-scheduled. The final match was played on 16.05.2022 between Team SMS & Team Blast Furnace with Team SMS winning the match by 84 runs.
Batting first, the Team SMS scored 183 runs in 16 overs. Team BF scored 99 runs in their 16 overs. After the final match, a prize distribution ceremony was organized to reward the winners in presence of functional heads, senior officials, employees, union members and others.
The prizes were handed over to the winners by Shri R Muniraju ED(P&A), DSP & ASP and Shri S Subbaraj ED(ASP) including other senior officials present on the occasion.
